It all started when Clay began working for his uncle as a young adult. His uncle manufactured heating and cooling equipment for the poultry market. It wasn’t long before he realized that greenhouse structures used the same temperature management methods and the same heating and cooling equipment as they were using in the poultry industry. Eventually, Clay was hired to manage the greenhouse market sales territory west of the Mississippi River.

Clay met his wife, Kandie when they both attended The University of Mary Hardin Baylor. Clay transferred from Mary Hardin Baylor to finish out his college days at UTSA.

Several years after his initial greenhouse sales days, Clay and his brother opened Crider America. They worked out of an office and warehouse in Texas, where they distributed greenhouse supplies to commercial greenhouses across the country. Clay’s brother handled marketing while Clay specialized in the distribution side of the business.

Crider America operated for several years before The Crider Brothers decided to part ways and expand their individual areas of expertise. It was at this point that Clay started his own business that focused solely on the distribution aspect of commercial greenhouse supplies.

Around this time, Clay and Kandie’s son Cody and daughter Rylee were about to have a brand new baby sister join their crew. They named the new baby Sam, and along with her, Cody-Rylee-Sam Supply Group was born.

Clay believes the process of outfitting a greenhouse should be streamlined, simple, and friendly. He aims to be exactly what he looks for when he is the customer- dependable, reliable, honest, and trustworthy. Clay is the kind of guy who is still a fan of a good old-fashioned phone call.
